Why NASCAR Does Not Wish You Merry Christmas
There are many reasons to boycott NASCAR. One of them is NASCAR's refusal to recognize Christmas in their advertising. NASCAR only says "holiday" in their promotions. According to the American Family Association (AFA),a Christian and pro-family organization,NASCAR is a "company against Christmas". I absolutely and completely agree. These hypocrites want to make money off Christmas but refuse to recognize its existence. NASCAR does not want to offend a small minority but they do not mind offending the overwhelming majority of NASCAR fans who celebrate Christmas. NASCAR has obviously been brainwashed by the cult of political correctness as sadly many areas of society have been in recent years.
Between the "Drive For Diversity" nonsense, and the adoption of Obamaesque "biofuels" by NASCAR,it is obvious that political correctness has overtaken NASCAR. This goes along with NASCAR's abandonment and betrayal of working class Southern fans who put NASCAR on the map. NASCAR now parrots misinformed race baiters and race hustlers who lie about the Confederate flag, culminating in idiotic statements by Brian France in a TV interview. NASCAR's refusal to recognize Christmas is yet another another clear sign of how political correctness has overrun NASCAR.
Boycott NASCAR! Hit 'em where it hurts. We will have no more of their garbage.

The War On Christmas 2010
While some progress has been made as more retailers acknowledge Christmas in their advertising, other retailers still refuse to mention Christmas in their advertising, worried that they might offend a small minority, even though at least 91 percent of Americans celebrate Christmas.
The American Family Association (AFA) has published their annual list of Christmas-friendly retailers and those who refuse to mention Christmas in their advertising.
When I was growing up in the 1960s and 1970s,it was normal and natural saying "Merry Christmas". Nobody was concerned about offending somebody because it was accepted practice that America was essentially a Christian nation and that Christmas is part of America's Christian heritage. Only in the past ten years or so has the politically correct "Happy Holidays" or Holiday this or Holiday that started displacing Christmas. Governments and corporations say they want to be more "inclusive" and not offend anybody. Who would they be more "inclusive" of? Christmas is a Christian holiday. America was founded as a Christian nation. If you do not like it,tough. Get over it. Just do not participate if you are bothered by it but do not impose your views on the majority. Either grin and bear it or leave the country. This is like a gentile living in Israel demanding that Yom Kippur or Hanukkah should be "inclusive" of non-Jews,when it should be understood that Israel is a Jewish nation and Jewish holidays and customs are observed but nobody is forced to participate in them.
The politically correct Scrooges and Grinches who hate Christmas do not want to offend a small minority but they do not mind offending the overwhelming majority who celebrate Christmas, even though surveys show the overwhelming majority of Americans prefer "Merry Christmas" over "Happy Holidays".
Another thing that makes my blood boil is the hypocrisy of retailers who refuse to mention Christmas in their advertising but want to make money off of it. If retailers are out to make money off Christmas and know the overwhelming majority of their customers celebrate Christmas, then it is difficult understanding why retailers have a problem recognizing Christmas or saying "Merry Christmas".
While we have come a long way as more retailers recognize the existence of Christmas,we know much work remains to be done. God bless those who are fighting the good fight-and winning.

Saying Goodbye To Two Television Icons
Actress Barbara Billingsley, best known as the ideal wife, mother, and stay at home mom June Cleaver has passed away at age 94. Her sweet, kind, and compassionate nature endeared Ms.Billingsley to millions around the world. While Ward Cleaver (Hugh Beaumont) was good at dispensing advice and wisdom to his sons Wallace (Wally, played by Tony Dow) and Theodore (Beaver, played by Jerry Mathers), June brought love and warmth to the Cleaver home. June and Ward always set their sons straight and raised them with solid values and were understanding whenever Wally or Beaver got into trouble but also knew to discipline their sons. I still watch "Leave It To Beaver" reruns wherever and whenever I find them. The timeless values and quality of this show are needed more than ever. Rest in peace,Ms.Billingsley, and thanks for all the warm and wonderful memories.
Actor Tom Bosley also passed away this week. He was 83. Best known as Howard Cunningham, husband of Marion Cunningham (Marion Ross) and father of Richie (Ron Howard) and Joanie (Erin Moran) on "Happy Days", he also had a recurring role on the series "Murder,She Wrote" and starred as a crime-solving priest on "The Father Dowling Mysteries". Rest in peace,Mr.Bosley, and thanks for all the happiness you gave us.

Something Troubling
I received an e-mail on Thursday from Morality In Media,an organization I highly recommend to those who read this blog. The e-mail is titled "An Open Letter To Glenn Beck",written by MIM President Robert Peters. Mr.Peters mentioned his appearances on Mr.Beck's program when Mr.Beck was on Headline News, a spin off network of CNN. Mr.Beck now has a daily program on the Fox News Channel in addition to a syndicated radio talk show. Mr.Peters pointed out Mr.Beck's apparently weak stand on government enforcement of obscenity laws and noted Mr.Beck's recent statement on the Fox News Channel's "The O'Reilly Factor" that he has no problem with homosexual "marriage".
This should be troubling to social conservatives. With the economy in dire straits and the out of control spending of the Obama administration and Congressional Democrats, who are likely doomed in November, and the proliferation of Obamacare, it is understandable that the Republicans and the Tea Party would concentrate more on economic issues. Social conservatives have reminded the Republicans that social conservatives are the backbone of the GOP just as much as economic conservatives. GOP Congressman Eric Cantor of Virginia and other Congressional Republicans have recently reaffirmed the party's support for the social conservative agenda, including protection of the unborn and traditional marriage. This should help the Republican Party even more in the November elections.
Glenn Beck is regarded as a prominent spokesman for the conservative movement and for him to show weakness on enforcement of laws against pornography and give his OK to homosexual "marriage" is disturbing and disappointing. As a conservative, I also believe that government should only go so far on regulating some things but no government at all leads to anarchy, chaos, and the collapse of civilization as we know it. Mr.Beck's views on enforcement of pornography laws (or lack thereof) and saying he has no problem with homosexual "marriage" are more those of a sellout than a true conservative. The nation's founders intended for there to be limited government,as opposed to totalitarianism on one extreme and anarchy on the other. This is where our system of checks and balances comes in.
Do not get me wrong. I want lower taxes, less regulation, and a smaller federal government also, but not anarchy. The federal government is constitutionally obligated to protect our borders against the onslaught of drug dealers, terrorists, and illegal aliens. It is also obligated to protect women and children from the evil of pornography, which studies show is clearly linked to sex-related crimes against women and children. The federal government is also responsible for protecting unborn children and traditional marriage between one man and one woman. Bill O'Reilly, another Fox regular, also takes the politically correct line on homosexual "marriage" and believes homosexuals should be allowed to adopt and raise children. My concern is that some supposed "conservatives" are taking the easy way out so their liberal critics will keep quiet and go away. It is known as being intimidated and selling out.
The success of the conservative movement comes from rattling the cages of liberals and getting in their faces,by standing with God and His righteousness, which comes from His Holy Word. Jesus said, "Blessed are they that are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven". I want a Heavenly reward for eternity, not worldly acclaim for the short term. Jerry Falwell never backed down. Robert Taft never backed down. Barry Goldwater never backed down. Ronald Reagan never backed down. Russell Kirk never backed down. Jesse Helms never backed down. Pat Buchanan,Ron Paul, and other true adherents of the Right have never sold out either and do not care what the cost is. This is the principle we should and must rededicate ourselves to as Christians and conservatives. The conservative movement needs principled statesmen again, not egocentric showmen. By sticking to principles no matter what the cost, this will prove a winner for conservatives in 2010,2012,and beyond.

America's Profanity Epidemic
Today,I saw an article by a so-called sports writer that was peppered with uses of the " a " word for the human posterior,or behind. He thought he was being funny. I am not amused. I am sure many other people are not amused either. It shows that America is in a language crisis. Words that once appeared only on bathroom walls and were confined to locker rooms have invaded and hijacked the "mainstream" media, as Hollywood and the "entertainment" culture constantly bombard the American public with filth, including plenty of sex, lots of violence, and generous helpings of profanity that would make a sailor blush. Even the Vice President of the United States shamelessly used the " f " word at a news conference earlier this year. Nobody can turn on the public airwaves anymore, radio and TV,without being bombarded by almost constantly crude and profane language. CBS has a new sitcom premiering this fall titled "(Bleep) My Dad".
The decline in morality, civility, and public decency has been hastened by the open use of vulgarities in today's society. When my parents were young,if a child swore, that child was punished for doing so. Even when moral values started declining during my childhood in the 1970s, we still had standards and discipline. During the filming of "Gone With The Wind" in 1939, the producers and the studio had to obtain special permission from Hollywood's self-governing standards and practices board to let Clark Gable use the " d " word. Profanity was not widely used in movies until the late 1960s,when the Motion Picture Association of America adopted the rating system used today, and opened the door for sex, violence, and profanity in movies.
Thank God there are people who are out to do something about the decline in decency and civility. McKay Hatch,a California youth, started the No Cussing Club when he grew tired of the widespread use of profanity at the school he attended. The NCC has grown rapidly and has members around the world, including myself. Other excellent organizations I highly recommend are the American Family Association, the Parents Television Council, and Morality In Media.
We should enthusiastically support these organizations that are working to restore America's moral and civil values.

Welcome
I have been inspired to start this blog because of my profound concern for the spiritual, cultural, and moral decline of our nation. I also want to promote alternatives to the pervasive filth and vulgarity in our nation today. I want to promote organizations that defend our values and are fighting on the front lines in the Culture War such as the American Family Association (AFA),Morality In Media (MIM),and the Parents Television Council (PTC), organizations I have been involved with and highly recommend to those who read this blog.
If you hate what is on MTV, find Hollywood's deviant, hedonistic lifestyles, Christian-bashing, and anti-American leftist politics repulsive, and are offended by the garbage that dominates the media landscape today, then you have come to the right place. If you find taxpayer-financed "art" offensive, again welcome. This is a Christ-centered blog so I am not ashamed to mention my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. If you are offended by that, go elsewhere.
Please check out this blog and look for updates. Enjoy!
